As a team, we decided to start in Stellenbosch which is located in the Western Cape, about 35 miles from Cape Town. The population is 118,700 with a student population of 25,000. It was founded in 1679 and is the second oldest European settlement in the province. This will be strategic because of strong relationships and partnerships established during the Southern Hills Church of Christ “Let's Go” summer mission trips we did in 2010 - 2013. Casper also went to high school in Stellenbosch for 5 years and has strong relationships with churches, families, and schools.
So, why South Africa? We asked ourselves: “If we were looking at SA through Jesus eyes; what would we see? What would He be crying about? What is on His heart?” The pain of the divided, the poor, the broken families and the unsaved has entered our hearts. We cannot rest until we can bring the solution to SA, which is Jesus! As a team, we seek to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28: 18-20), help with reconciliation, serve the needs of the poor, and train leaders by impacting youth.
