Today is a beautiful day in Stellenbosch. Little bit of rain mixed with sunshine. Today I had a Discipling meeting, and the question was posed: "What does intimacy with God really mean?"
Would love to hear your comments it. Any thoughts?
Wow, great idea. What DOES intimacy with God mean? Far too often, out society tries to define intimacy simply as sexual intimacy - which is one tiny part of what intimacy may be. I think that affects the way that we, as believers, see intimacy with our Father. Intimacy with God is wrapped up in wanting to know God, in wanting to please our Father, in seeking to know God's will in our lives. It requires a desire to have a real, vibrant relationship with our Father and that requires TIME and EFFORT -- as any intimate relationship requires. I know in my life, all too often, having an intimate relationship with my Father does not take center focus - it is pushed back by other things in my life. I know that I consciously feel those times when having an intimate relationship with my Father is taking a back seat.
